My name is Andrew J McKeown I am a Veterans Affairs (VA) Accredited Attorney and devote a large part of my law practice to representing disabled veterans before the Department of VA.
United States Marine Corps
A bit of background on myself reveals my journey toward becoming an attorney started with my enlistment in the United States Marine Corps from 1999-2004. During my enlistment, I served as an infantryman (0341) with the 1st Marine Division, 1st Battalion 5th Marine Regiment in Camp Pendleton CA.
After I was Honorably Discharged from the USMC, I moved back to my home state of Michigan and attended Michigan State University Broad College of Business and obtained my undergraduate degree in 2007.
Immediately afterward I attended Michigan State University College of Law and graduated in 2010 with a Juris Doctorate.
Department of Veterans Affairs
After graduating from law school, I returned to Southern California and accepted a position with the Department of VA as a disability claim adjudicator (Rater). Not long after I accepted the position, I began to notice that although the VA advertised itself as “non-adversarial”, that was simply not consistent with my observations nor experiences. After nearly 3 years with the Dept. of VA, I decided to resign from my position and pursue Veteran and dependent disability from the outside as a private attorney.
